First you need to get patched up:

This will get you up to version 1.40 (http://www.filefront.com/r.b/page__file_info/_filepath__/gamingfiles/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/Official_Releases/Patches/wolf_update_1_4.exe/_output.html)

then

This will take incrementally to the last patch for RtCW, 1.41 (http://www.filefront.com/r.b/page__file_info/_filepath__/gamingfiles/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/Official_Releases/Patches/wolf_update_1_41.exe/_output.html)

Once those have been downloaded and installed, let's move onto the maps!

First you need the GoTY Edition map pack, the official map pack from Splash and Nerve (http://www.filefront.com/r.b/page__file_info/_filepath__/gamingfiles/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/Official_Releases/Map_Packs/goty_mappack.exe/_output.html).

Next you'll want to download probably the maps Market Garden, Normandy Breakout and Tank. I've also listed Twilight as it is one of my favorite maps. When I have time I'll list the others we used to have but Tank, MG and NB are the biggies plus the GoTY map pack.

Market Garden (http://www.filefront.com/r.b/page__file_info/_filepath__/gamingfiles/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/Maps/Multiplayer/mp_marketgarden.zip/_output.html)

Normandy Breakout (http://www.filefront.com/r.b/page__file_info/_filepath__/gamingfiles/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/Maps/Multiplayer/Objective/mp_breakout.zip/_output.html)

Tank (http://www.filefront.com/r.b/page__file_info/_filepath__/gamingfiles/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/Maps/Multiplayer/mp_tank_final.zip/_output.html)

Twilight (http://www.filefront.com/r.b/page__file_info/_filepath__/gamingfiles/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein/Maps/Multiplayer/Objective/mp_twilight.zip/_output.html)

*FIXING IN-GAME REFRESH RATE WHEN USING WINDOWS XP*

For some people, like myself, RtCW defaults to 60hz for the refresh setting. Playing the game you can notice that it just doesn't "look" or "feel" right on the eyes and can get quite tiresome after awhile.

To set permanently the in-game refresh rate, you must first bring down the console by pressing the ~ key. Once you have pressed, a box will have dropped down from the top of the screen with a command line. On that line type:
/seta r_displayrefresh "85"

Hit Return/Enter. It will inform you that the settings will take effect once the game/video has been restarted. Close the console by hitting the ~ once more and exit the game completely and then return. You should now notice the perceptible flicker is gone. You can of course use whatever value such as 75 or whatever but I use 85.

I have an Nvidia card and even using the Refresh overide included with the drivers doesn't seem to work on this game like it does Battlefield 1942. So this should work for you!

:bump:

Bringing this thread up from the bottom to help some of you get ready for Friday :D

Refresh problem:

For some the refresh rate does not go away even after typing seta r_displayrefresh "85" in the console.

The best way around this to actually open up your wolfmp config file and manually input the command.

To do this go either through Windows Explorer or My Computer to your Return to Castle Wolfenstein directory, then to the folder Main. There should be a file called wolfmp.cfg or mpwolf.cfg or something like that. Double click on that file and open using either notepad or Wordpad. You should see a whole bunch of settings and such pop up.

Just insert the command /seta r_displayrefresh "85" on any line and then save the file. Next time when you start, your refresh problem should be fixed. If it still persists, go back to your Main folder and then shrub folder and insert the command in that directory's wolfmp.cfg file.

Forgot some binds?

the x in each example represents any key that you chose such as the actual letter x or F1 or z or whatever. The +salute and sg assume that the server is running shrub mod, which friday we should be.

Also keep in mind that the binds will only hold for the mod you are playing as Wolf keeps seperate configs for each mod instance of Wolf. In other words if you've played on a regular wolf server, a shrub wolf server and a bani mod wolf server, you will have a directory folder for each one under the Main folder in the RtCW directory. Each folder will have its own wolfmp.cfg file so if you make binds in a regular wolf server, they will not come up on the shrub server. If you find yourself pressing a key that you bound for a message to pop up but it doesn't chances are you are playing on a different mod server and need to rebind your keys for that mod.

To input the binds drop down the console in game by pressing the ~ or manually edit the wolfmp.cfg file in the respective directory (like the shrub directory under Main):

/bind x +salute for shoving and dragging players.
/bind x sg for Lts. to throw smoke grenades
/bind x say_team "<--- I am here" to tell team where you are. You can of course add your own colors and such and bind other keys for other commands
/bind x say "OMGH4X!!!" Tell everyone what your feeling.

Those are just few I can think of off the top of my head and should at least help aid in communicating with your teammates.

Any corrections or any more to add anyone?

/bind x sg for Lts. to throw smoke grenades

Bind x alt

Works for smoke, grenade packs, mines, etc. I always used my weapalt key for this one so that I could bring up smoke grenades, grenade packs, mines, tripmines, scope for mauser, etc with just one key.

bind x weapalt;alt

I thought 1.41 was a server side update only... its been a long time though. ASE server info indicates it is running 1.4.

Also, John tells me shrub will not be running. So ignore salute, smoke grenades, play dead, etc. that are shrub enhancements.

And he also says TANK and TWILIGHT will NOT be part of the rotation.

Have fun and approach the Tower secure in the knowledge that my panzer is safely tucked away in the closet.

I noticed that too, Ty. I reinstalled Wolf last night, as I crashed 5 times while testing the Dome 2 nights ago. I updated through 1.41, but was still able to connecto to the Dome which, as you stated shows 1.4 on ASE, A was also able to connect to a couple other servers which show as 1.41 in ASE, so, server side update or not, still seems to connect.

Something I just noticed, I patched with 1.4 then 1.41, but didn't get Tram, Chateau, Ice...

These are GOTY maps that were originally released in the 1.32 patch... so check to see if you've got them, otherwise, you have to d/l the GOTY map pack...
