well i have played hundreds of RPGs in my day, but as far as MMORPGs go, i hate 'em. why would i pay a monthly fee to play a slow paced, repetitive, no-plot game with a bunch of 12 year old n00bs when i can play online shooters w/ you guys for free? :D

Thing I hate about them (other than paying montly) is the amount of time you have to invest into them.

I work with guys that put in (or used to) 12-15 hours in a weekend on EQ and then have their guild get PO'd at them when they leave b/c they were the level 60 "healer" on their quest.

I used to hear their stories of EQ like frat boys talk about their parties on monday. :(

I'm a geek but not that dedicated to geekdom.

Played SWG till COD came out. Master Creature Handler and Master Bio-Engi. Spent enormous amount of time on it and got bored.

yeppers, I was one of those geeks. only, i never told anyone about it. Played EQ like a mad man for a year. It was like, you know, crazy or something. My eyes were getting use to being out of sunlight and started to go all huge and sh!+. Know what I'm sayin'?

about the time spent on these things:
ME:O will have a "time-based advancement system". that means that your character advances little by little even when you are off line. this could come in handy for people like me that want to play it but want to play other games as well.
