Default Okay, I have taken up cooking and....

For a long time I never prepared any food but the last year I've been messing around with skillet cooking, good manly frying of meat! Any good and easy recipes that work in a skillet? I'm trying to expand my meat horizons!

Seasoning, you can pick up sauces that catch your eye, or go with the basic salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder & paprika starter. Onions in a skillet, plain or with some spices, always goes with anything.
Olive oil to cook, and I like to throw a little bit of butter on top of a steak as it finishes.
Chicken with some seasoning, salt, pepper, a pinch of garlic, some olive oil (all rubbed in & under the skin, if you leave it on), and some capers. Add some lemon juice, maybe a little white wine.
Salmon filet in a skillet, just some salt, a pinch of pepper, in olive oil. Throw some butter on it as it finishes, or not.
Pork chops, you can do them up so they taste like a giant slab of bacon. Throw that on some fresh bread ... yeah, you can feel the pain in the middle of your chest now, right?

Not much you can't cook in a skillet. Leftover chicken? Add milk, cream, a little flour, some salt (and the gelatin from the leftover chicken, but not the grease), and simmer until it thickens up. Cream of chicken soup. Or an awesome topping for rice.

Best way? Play around with different types of seasoning. And a temperature fork to let you know when it's done really helps you avoid drying out the meat. Nothing wrong with keeping a lid on it and cooking on a medium heat, then cranking it up to brown the meat.
If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst forth at once in the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One... I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.

What, did the cook quit? How do you stay alive?
Imagine if you'd spent as many hours practicing with a musical instrument as you have spent playing video games.
